The GeoCam 360 Camera: Transforming Reality Capture
When it comes to reality capture, the hardware that you use is the foundation of your entire workflow. Often a camera needs to be relatively easy to use, yet powerful, and capable of delivering high-quality results in both indoor and outdoor environments. The GeoCam 360 Camera was designed for a wide range of professional users in cities, utilities, state DOTs, and commercial building industries. Let’s review the core capabilities of the camera that are really important to understand.
High Resolution Image Capture with Quality and Precision
At the core of the GeoCam 360 Camera is its ability to effectively capture high-resolution 3D imagery, here’s what sets it apart:
Fully Integrated System: Each 36 MP camera includes 3 Fisheye lenses, each is equipped with a 12 MP sensor, ensuring that whether you’re mapping city streets or inspecting utility networks, the GeoCam 360 will deliver the accuracy and depth that you need.
High-Accuracy GNSS: Every image is geotagged with pinpoint accuracy, down to 10 cm, thanks to the camera’s advanced GNSS capabilities.
Take It Everywhere and Anywhere
What makes the GeoCam 360 Camera truly unique is its adaptability. No matter the project or environment, it was designed to perform in a wide range of environments and applications:
Vehicle Mounting: Attach the camera to a vehicle via a standard tripod for large-scale road or highway projects. The device can capture on surface roads at speeds of up to 60 mph, with images recorded at 2-meter intervals (2.5 meters for freeways) with a maximum frame rate of 14 FPS. This ensures comprehensive coverage, even at high speeds.
Handheld or Backpack Mode: Need to capture alleyways, sidewalks, indoor spaces, or even inside underground sewer systems? The GeoCam 360 can be mounted on a monopole for handheld use or attached to a backpack for hands-free operation. This is a huge benefit when our users need to navigate the tight spaces or congested right-of-way areas where gas and electric utility networks are often located. When used indoors or in tight spaces, the camera defaults to 3 FPS, with the option to increase the frequency for creating detailed 3D point clouds or meshes.
Quick Release System: Transitioning between different modes is seamless, allowing users to switch from driving to walking and back without interrupting the workflow.
Powerful Onboard Processing
The GeoCam 360 Camera does not just capture high resolution 3D images, it processes them efficiently, too. With 8TB of NVMe storage and a GPU-enabled smart compression system, the camera can handle large-scale data capture without compromising performance. Allowing our users to focus on the task at hand, without worrying about storage limitations or slow processing times.
Robust Reality Capture with Real Flexibility and Functionality
The GeoCam 360 Camera is more than just a device—it’s a key part of the complete GeoCom reality capture solution. The unique combination of high-resolution 3D imaging, precise geotagging, and versatile deployment options makes it the ideal choice for professionals who need to capture, process, and analyze large-scale imagery cost efficiently.
Whether you’re mapping city infrastructure, inspecting utility networks, or documenting commercial properties, the GeoCam 360 Camera allows our users to work smarter and faster, while still getting the crucial and accurate data they need.
